Piercing Sawing is one of the fundamental skills of jewelry making, but one that many struggle with. In this course we will help you learn to confidently use your jewelers saw to create detailed work within a short time frame.
This workshop will be a hybrid allowing for closeup demos on video. COVID has changed our methods of teaching some of our workshops without compromising the outcome of new skills and unique creations.
You will be shown a video of experienced instructor and creator of this workshop, Lucy Walker, as she creates a beautiful pendant. The video is packed with tips and demos. The video will be paused at intervals to practice your new skills. After watching the entire video we will begin the project and your in-person workshop instructor will be close by to provide guidance and clarification.
You will be provided with detailed handouts full of step-by-step instructions and tips. There is also an opportunity to learn to make a couple of handy tools yourself and a tool list. for those of you who may want to setup a home studio. We sell those tools and offer a 10% discount to our current students for supplies and tools we sell onsite.
This 6 hour workshop is instructor led with an introductory limited time special pricing fee of $75.00 paid online here to reserve your spot. A makerspace and materials kit fee of $20 - $35, price varies with your choice of metal, plus sales tax to be paid at arrival on workshop day. Tassels not included.
9 AM - 3:30 PM with a 30 minute lunch break from 12 PM - 12:30 PM. You will leave this workshop with a beautiful pendant to be hung from a pre-made chain you bring, purchase one the day of class or return for a chain making class!
Please wear closed toed shoes, keep long hair away from face, no loose sleeves and bring eyewear needed for close up work if necessary to see. We provide protective eyewear if needed. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the workshop start time.
There will be a break at mid point of the workshop and you may bring snacks.
There are many options to continue and broaden your new knowledge. We offer studio rental time with access to all the tools you need and a monitor close by to assist, tools for sale at a discounted price, or tool rental to take home. For those who may want to setup a home studio. we offer a 10% discount to our current students for supplies and tools we sell onsite.
