Learn to make a pair of earrings using the ancient Japanese technique Keum-Boo. This process involves heat fusing 24k gold onto fine silver.
This beginner workshop introduces the maker to texture plates and a rolling mill for unique texture designs, pancake dies and an electric 20 ton hydraulic press for cutting your earring shapes, annealing to prepare your earrings for texturing and forming with various tools and the Keum-Boo process, fusing gold to silver, which is the highlight of this workshop! Finishing techniques will include filing and using a Jool Tool for smooth metal edges, patina, buffing, and more.
This 3 hour workshop is Artisan Instructor led with a fee of $60 plus a materials kit fee of $35 plus sales tax.
The workshop fee is paid at the time of reservation here on our website and the materials kit fee is paid upon your arrival the day of class.
Please wear closed toed shoes, keep long hair away from face, no loose sleeves and bring eyewear needed for close up work if necessary to see. We provide protective eyewear if needed. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the workshop start time.
There will be a break at mid point of the workshop. You may bring snacks.
Your metal texture will vary from the photo depending on the pattern you choose. We offer over 80 choices!
